Manhattan court orders Floyd Mayweather to pay $340,000 in rent dispute
The retired boxer faces a default judgment over a luxury duplex at The Baccarat Hotel and Residences.
A New York state court judge has issued a default judgment against retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., ordering him to pay approximately $340,000. According to the Times of India, the amount covers outstanding rent, late fees, interest, legal expenses, and other associated costs related to a rental dispute in Manhattan.
Mayweather began renting a duplex at The Baccarat Hotel and Residences in December 2024 for $100,000 a month. The property, located at 20 West 53rd Street, was owned by Miami-based entrepreneurs Leila and David Centner.
The owners, who had previously purchased the two adjoining units for more than $15 million, took legal action through an LLC after Mayweather allegedly stopped paying rent in mid-2025. While the parties initially reached a settlement for him to clear dues by December 2, 2025, The Real Deal reported that Mayweather paid for one month before ceasing communication.
The Centners alleged that Mayweather did not respond to their calls or the court complaint. They also reportedly noted an Instagram post showing stacks of cash while they were attempting to recover the unpaid rent.
Following Mayweather's departure, the owners relisted the five-bedroom residence for $150,000 a month. The Real Deal reported that the Centners sold the duplex for $20 million last week, according to property records.
