Hubballi MLC Lingaraj Patil criticises lack of amenities in Gamanagatti

The MLC inspected Abhinandan Colony Phase II on Monday following complaints from residents regarding missing essential infrastructure.

Hubballi MLC Lingaraj Patil questioned officials on Monday regarding the absence of basic civic amenities at the Karnataka Housing Board’s Abhinandan Colony Phase II in Gamanagatti, according to The Hindu.

Mr. Patil visited the locality after residents raised complaints. He stated that authorities are responsible for providing roads, drainage, drinking water, streetlights, and sanitation in addition to housing.

The MLC noted that residents have used their lifetime savings to buy homes in the colony but continue to face struggles with essential infrastructure. He said the administration should not neglect its duty to provide services while collecting taxes and charges from the public.

Mr. Patil told the Karnataka Housing Board and local civic authorities to work together rather than moving responsibility between different departments. He said officials must identify what infrastructure is needed and start the work immediately.

He warned that failing to address the grievances of the public would not be accepted. Karnataka Housing Board Assistant Executive Engineer Ramanna Nandi, engineer Rahul Belavatagi, and local residents were present during the inspection.
