NIA raids eight locations in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal

The agency conducted searches in connection with a case involving the recovery of fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 2,48,500.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at eight locations across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal on Wednesday, according to ANI.

The raids were carried out in relation to a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) recovery case. The searches took place at three sites in Gaya, two in Aurangabad, both in Bihar, two in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and one in Malda, West Bengal.

The case involves the recovery of FICN with a face value of Rs 2,48,500 from the Madanpur Police Station jurisdiction in Aurangabad, Bihar. During the operations, the NIA seized Bangladeshi currency, digital devices and incriminating documents.

A case was originally registered at the Madanpur Police Station on August 15 against four individuals, identified as Surendra Kumar, Vijay Yadav, Ranjan and Pradeep Saw. The NIA re-registered the case on October 18 and took over the probe following an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The agency stated that preliminary findings indicate the accused were participating in the smuggling of fake Indian currency notes.
