Captain Akshay Wadkar scored a century before being stretchered off the field during the Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match.
Vidarbha secured a first-innings lead against Madhya Pradesh on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match at the VCA Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur. According to Sportstar and The Hindu, captain Akshay Wadkar scored 100 runs and Nachiket Bhute made 97 runs to propel the hosts to a total of 334.
Vidarbha resumed the day at 56 for four. Early wickets from Avesh Khan and Saransh Jain left the team in a difficult position, but Wadkar and Bhute launched a counter-attack against the Madhya Pradesh bowlers. Bhute reached his half-century in 56 balls before lunch, while Wadkar reached his fifty from 122 balls after the break.
Wadkar reached his century from 212 balls, but the milestone came at a personal cost. After diving to complete a single, the captain was in visible pain and had to be taken off the field in an ambulance. Bhute was eventually caught by Saksham Purohit off the bowling of Arshad Khan while approaching a three-figure score.
Following the departure of the main batsmen, Darshan Nalkande and Parth Rekhade helped push the lead past 100. Madhya Pradesh began their second innings with Yash Dubey being dismissed on the second delivery of the new ball, leaving the visitors at 19 for one after six overs.
The first-innings scores were Madhya Pradesh 209 and Vidarbha 334. Madhya Pradesh bowling included Kartikeya with three wickets, Avesh with two, and Saransh with three.
