Telangana CM directs officials to continue Maharashtra talks on Tummidihatti barrage

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy told irrigation authorities to share documents and prepare details regarding submerged areas for the proposed project.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday ordered irrigation officials to maintain dialogue with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed construction of the Tummidihatti barrage, according to reports by Deccan Chronicle, Siasat and The Pioneer.

During a review meeting at his Jubilee Hills residence, the Chief Minister, alongside Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, instructed authorities to be ready with thorough details of areas that might be submerged.

Revanth Reddy stated that the Telangana government is willing to pay suitable compensation for any land in Maharashtra impacted by the project. He added that the state is also ready to put necessary funds into a joint account held by both state governments.

The Chief Minister noted that Telangana would not oppose Maharashtra conducting its own survey to assess potential land submergence. He directed officials to exchange all relevant documents, including existing agreements, with the Maharashtra government.

Officials were instructed to provide any information requested by Maharashtra in a timely manner to assist with ongoing discussions. The meeting included Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, Secretary to the Irrigation Department Sridhar, and Engineer-in-Chief Ramesh.
