Health department showcases public initiatives at Rajyotsava event in Raichur

A tableau featuring the Kishori Kendra and various national health schemes was flagged off by Raichur district in-charge Minister Ajay Singh.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare showcased its public health programmes through a tableau during the 71st Rajyotsava celebrations in Raichur, according to The Hindu.

Raichur district in-charge Minister Ajay Singh flagged off the display, which was briefed to him by District Health and Family Welfare Officer Nandita M.N.

The tableau featured the Zilla Panchayat's Kishori Kendra initiative, which supports the development of adolescent girls aged 11 to 18 through health, education, and life skills. The programme has also been extended to adolescent boys.

Kishori Kendras are currently active in Raichur, Deodurg, Jalahalli, Arkera, Sirwar, and Gabbur, with plans to reach other taluk headquarters. The initiative addresses child marriage, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and mental health, while also teaching self-defence and internet safety.

Other featured schemes included the Gruha Arogya Scheme, Namma Clinic, and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. The latter aims to identify and address health issues and developmental delays in children up to 18 years of age.

The tableau, prepared by the department's Information, Education and Communication wing, moved from Kannada Sangha Bhavan to Mahatma Gandhi Stadium. Deputy Commissioner Poovitha S. and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ishwar Kumar Kandoo were also in attendance.
