Telangana CM directs officials to continue Maharashtra talks on Tummidihatti barrage

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed irrigation authorities to share documents and maintain rapport with Maharashtra regarding the project.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday ordered irrigation officials to maintain a good rapport and continue discussions with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed Tummidihatti barrage construction, according to ANI.

The Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy held a review meeting with officials at the Jubilee Hills residence to discuss the project and recent talks with Maharashtra.

Revanth Reddy instructed authorities to prepare comprehensive details of submerged areas and exchange all relevant documents, including existing agreements, with the Maharashtra government.

The Chief Minister stated that the Telangana government is prepared to offer suitable compensation for any lands in Maharashtra affected by submergence. He added that the state is willing to place necessary money into a joint account held by both state governments.

Revanth Reddy noted that Telangana would not oppose Maharashtra conducting its own survey to assess potential land submergence. He directed officials to provide any information requested by Maharashtra in a timely manner.

The meeting was attended by Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, Irrigation Department Secretary Sridhar, Engineer-in-Chief Ramesh, and other senior officials.
