Virat Kohli picks 43-run knock as his best ODI innings
The former India captain favoured his performance in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy final over several of his recorded centuries.
Virat Kohli has named his 43-run innings against England in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy final as his greatest One Day International (ODI) performance, according to a Times of India report. The former India captain was featured in a Star Sports video where he was asked to select his finest ODI innings.
The 43-run knock occurred during a rain-affected match reduced to 20 overs, where Kohli joined Ravindra Jadeja to form a 47-run partnership after India reached 66/5. India won the title by five runs in that contest.
Kohli's choice overlooked several high-scoring performances, including his unbeaten 133 against Sri Lanka in 2012 and his 122 against England in 2017. He also bypassed his 183 against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup and his 107 against Pakistan in the 2015 ODI World Cup.
Other innings that did not make his selection included an unbeaten 160 against South Africa in 2018 and an 85 against Australia in the 2023 World Cup opener. He also chose the 2013 performance over his 35-run contribution in the 2011 ODI World Cup final.
Kohli, who turned 38 on Thursday, is the second-highest run-getter in ODI history with 15,183 runs. He holds the record for the most centuries in the format with 55.
