The robbery at the UCO Bank in Giridih took place during the day and lasted approximately 20 minutes.

Five armed criminals looted gold jewellery worth Rs 4 crore and Rs 12 lakh in cash from a UCO Bank in Giridih on Thursday. According to Prabhat Khabar, the robbery occurred during the day at the bank located in the leather warehouse area.

The criminals entered the bank at around 12:44 pm and took bank employees and customers hostage at gunpoint. One criminal pointed a gun at the bank manager's head while others used weapons to hold everyone in one place.

The robbers targeted the bank lockers to collect the gold jewellery and cash before fleeing. They locked the main door from the outside, leaving the employees and customers trapped inside the premises.

A customer who had gone to deposit money reported that the criminals took everyone hostage and demanded money. The customer alleged that they were assaulted when they resisted.

Local people arrived after hearing shouts for help and opened the locked main door to release the trapped people. The police were informed of the incident after the victims were brought out.

Police arrived at the scene and have started an investigation. Officers are questioning bank employees and witnesses, and are reviewing footage from the bank's cameras to identify the criminals.
