ED raids former IAS officer Anjaneyulu's residence in money laundering probe

The Enforcement Directorate searched seven locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regarding alleged irregularities in APPSC Group-1 Mains examination evaluations.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at seven locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Wednesday, according to the Deccan Chronicle. The searches targeted premises linked to former Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) secretary and senior IPS officer P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, as well as private firms.

The investigation involves alleged irregularities in the evaluation of APPSC Group-1 Mains examination answer scripts. The ED is examining financial transactions involving Anjaneyulu, Madhusudan, who is associated with a private evaluation firm, and other entities.

Searches took place at Anjaneyulu’s residence in Kasimbowli, Ranga Reddy district, and locations in Manikonda, Panjagutta, Neredmet, Secunderabad, and Alwal. The agency also searched Haailand Resort near Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh.

The probe follows a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report regarding the 2020 Mains examination. The SIT found that 66 persons allegedly lacked required qualifications to evaluate answer scripts and identified 287 instances of barcode discrepancies.

The SIT report also noted payments of Rs 1.14 crore to CamSign Media and Rs 1.38 crore to firms involved in digital evaluation. A case was registered at Suryaraopet police station in Vijayawada in April 2025, naming Anjaneyulu as the first accused and Madhusudan as the second accused.

Anjaneyulu and Madhusudhana Rao were previously arrested in connection with the case. The ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in October 2026 to examine the linked financial transactions.
