Nandini hikes prices of ghee, butter and paneer in Karnataka

The price revision follows recent increases in the cost of Nandini milk and curd across the state.

The Bengaluru Milk Union (BAMUL) has increased the prices of Nandini ghee, butter and paneer across Karnataka, according to reports by India Today, Deccan Herald and The Hindu.

The revised rates came into effect on November 4, following earlier increases to Nandini milk and curd prices on November 1. The milk price rose by Rs 8 per litre and curd by Rs 14 per litre.

Among the changes, the price of a one-litre sachet of Nandini ghee rose from Rs 715 to Rs 850. A one-litre ghee PET jar increased from Rs 735 to Rs 870, while a one-litre ghee tin rose from Rs 750 to Rs 870.

Paneer prices also changed, with a one-kg pack increasing from Rs 480 to Rs 485. A 200-gram pack of paneer rose from Rs 96 to Rs 115.

Butter prices saw revisions as well. A 500-gram pack of unsalted butter rose from Rs 330 to Rs 390, while a 500-gram pack of salted butter increased from Rs 310 to Rs 380.

P.C. Rao, honorary president of the Bangalore Hotels Association, said the hike is a huge financial burden on the hotel industry, noting an additional 25 per cent burden including milk, curd, paneer, ghee and butter prices.
