Former Kochi City police chief gets new posting
IPS officer Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar has been appointed as Inspector General of Police, Crimes-II, according to The Hindu.
The Kerala government has appointed Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, a 2005 batch IPS officer, as the Inspector General of Police, Crimes-II. According to The Hindu, the Home department issued an order on November 5 stating that Mahesh Kumar will also hold full additional charge as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Anti-Terrorist Squad.
Mahesh Kumar was recently removed from his position as the District Police Chief (Kochi City) in October. His removal followed criticism regarding the investigation into a car accident in Cheranelloor that involved the 17-year-old son of a judge.
Following his removal, the government appointed R. Nishanthini as the new District Police Chief for Kochi City.
In a separate transfer, N. Rajan has been moved from his role as the Vigilance Officer in the Kerala State Electricity Board. He has been posted as the Superintendent of Police (Administration) at the State Special Branch in Thiruvananthapuram.
