Four bodies found in fishing boat at Kothapatnam coast
Local fishermen discovered the vessel washed ashore in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district on Thursday.
A fishing boat washed ashore at the Kothapatnam coast in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district on Thursday, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
Local fishermen discovered four bodies inside the vessel and notified the police and marine personnel.
Officials suggest the boat might have capsized because of powerful waves from Cyclone Murasu.
The vessel, which appears to have drifted from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, was estimated by locals to have carried around 15 fishermen based on its size.
Kothapatnam police and marine officers inspected the boat and arranged to send the bodies to RIMS hospital for postmortem.
Marine police and Coast Guard teams, supported by local fishing boats and ships, are searching the sea for missing fishermen.
Authorities are working to determine if the deceased are from local coastal villages or Tamil Nadu. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
