Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced compensation of Rs 7 lakh for the families of fishermen who died after their mechanised boat capsized off the Andhra Pradesh coast. According to reports from Urban Acres, the Chief Minister said an initial payment of Rs 2 lakh would be given to each bereaved family immediately.

Four bodies have been recovered so far, with three washing ashore at Kothapatnam and one retrieved during search operations, as reported by The New Indian Express and Deccan Chronicle.
The recovered fishermen include S Mohan, 47, A Murugan, 48, and C Vijayakanth, 44. The bodies are being moved to the Government General Hospital mortuary. The Collector stated that the remaining five fishermen are still missing and search operations are ongoing.
The Tamil Nadu government has sent a team, including a Fisheries department assistant director, to Andhra Pradesh to confirm identities and check the status of the missing. The Chief Minister has also ordered that the transport of recovered bodies to Tamil Nadu be handled at the state's expense.
