Koderma: Over 250 schoolgirls protest principal's suspension and block town traffic
Students of CD CM School of Excellence demand the reinstatement of acting principal Shashi Bhushan Singh after his suspension.
More than 250 girl students of CD CM School of Excellence in Koderma blocked parts of the town for over three hours on Thursday. According to The New Indian Express, the protesters were demanding the revocation of the suspension of their acting principal, Shashi Bhushan Singh.
The students moved to Jhanda Chowk after school ended at 3 pm, which disrupted vehicular movement. The students alleged that Singh was suspended without a concrete reason due to personal enmity and claimed school administration and activities had improved under his leadership.
District Education Officer (DEO) Mukul Raj stated that Singh was suspended for negligence in his duties and for disregarding departmental directives. Raj said the principal had failed to comply with instructions from senior officials and had received three show-cause notices.
The DEO added that the department's requests for explanations were met with responses that were neither clear nor satisfactory. He clarified that the suspension was for administrative reasons and denied any personal animosity, further accusing the principal of politicising the episode.
The DEO also lodged an FIR against Singh, accusing him of instigating the students to protest. On Wednesday, students reportedly chased the principal towards the school exit and brought him back onto the campus while raising slogans.
A protesting student, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they would not end the agitation until the suspension was revoked and requested to know the actual reason for the action.
