Tripura presents digital healthcare models at national review meeting

The state aims to transition all government hospitals to paperless services by November 10.

Tripura presented its digital healthcare services and medical initiatives at a national review meeting in Kolkata, West Bengal, on November 5 and 6, 2026, according to ANI. The meeting, organised by the National Health Authority (NHA), focused on the Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, detailed the state's medical progress and upcoming plans. G Sharath Naik, CEO of Ayushman Bharat (Tripura) and State Mission Director for ABDM, also spoke at the event. The presentation included the operational structure of model civil hospitals and various digital projects.

The state has achieved 100 per cent coverage of the public healthcare sector by onboarding all government hospitals onto the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS). Officials stated that the goal is to include private healthcare facilities in this system within two months to ensure all hospitals are digital and paperless.

The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital has operated without paper since it opened. At this facility, patients use digital processes for OPD registration, token issuance, admissions, prescriptions, medicine dispensing, and lab tests.

All government hospitals in Tripura are scheduled to move to fully paperless services on November 10, removing manual processes. The CEO of the NHA and the State Health Secretary have invited meeting attendees to visit the state to see these digital changes in person.
