Three militants killed in Manipur gunfight between rival groups

The exchange of fire involving suspected Naga militant outfits occurred early Wednesday in the Noney district.

At least three militants were killed during a gunfight between rival groups in Manipur's Noney district on Wednesday, according to The New Indian Express.

The heavy exchange of fire began around 4 am at Taodaijang village in the Khoupum area of the Naga-majority district.

Officials said the cadres involved are suspected to belong to different Naga militant outfits, including the Zeliangrong United Front (Jenchui) and other rival groups.

Local residents recovered the bodies of the deceased men following the clash.

In an effort to stop further violence, local people led by women visited the site and employed a public address system to request that the cadres cease firing.

Further details regarding the incident are currently awaited.
