UPESSC relaxes graduation marks criteria for Assistant Teacher recruitment 2026

Candidates enrolled in teacher education programmes before July 29, 2011, are now exempt from minimum graduation percentage requirements.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has revised the eligibility criteria for the Assistant Teacher (Trained Graduate Grade) recruitment 2026, according to reports by The Times of India and Prabhat Khabar. Under the new rules, certain applicants will not be required to meet the minimum graduation marks threshold.

The exemption applies to candidates who secured admission to a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), or an equivalent teacher education course before July 29, 2011. This decision follows a government order issued on November 4 to align state rules with National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.

The revised eligibility will be applicable for Assistant Teacher vacancies in government-recognised and aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. Candidates who started their degrees after July 29, 2011, must still satisfy the prescribed marks criteria to be eligible.

According to Times Now, the deadline to apply for the recruitment is November 23. An application correction window will remain open until November 26. The examination for the post is scheduled for December 23 and 24, 2026.

The application fees are set at Rs 1,000 for General, Unreserved, and Economically Weaker Section applicants, Rs 500 for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and Rs 300 for Divyangjan.
