Gujarat announces 3 per cent DA hike for employees and pensioners

The decision will benefit approximately 9.69 lakh people and will come into effect from July 1, 2026, according to The Indian Express.

The Gujarat government has announced a 3 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for around 9.69 lakh employees and pensioners. The decision was taken during a state Cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday, according to The Indian Express.

Government spokesperson and senior minister Jitu Vaghani stated that the increase will take effect from July 1, 2026. The beneficiaries include 4.62 lakh employees from state services, panchayat services, and other organisations, along with approximately 5.07 lakh retired employees.

The state government will pay a total of Rs 523 crore as arrears for four months. These arrears will be credited to accounts along with the salary or pension for November 2026. The hike is expected to impose an additional annual financial burden of Rs 1,569 crore on the state.

In a separate announcement, the Cabinet gave in-principle approval to develop a Fish Landing Centre at Shiyal Bet island in Amreli district. The project aims to provide modern infrastructure, including a pile jetty and electrical facilities, to support the local fishing community.

The state will also organise celebrations for the 151st birth anniversary of Birsa Munda on November 15. These celebrations will take place in all districts, with a state-level function held in Chhota Udepur district.
