Uttarakhand CM approves 3 per cent DA hike for state employees

The Dearness Allowance for state employees will rise from 60 per cent to 63 per cent effective July 1, 2026.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved a 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees on Thursday, according to ANI and Moneycontrol. The hike raises the allowance from 60 per cent to 63 per cent, effective from July 1, 2026.

The decision aims to bring state employee benefits in line with the Government of India, which previously increased the DA rate for employees under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The Chief Minister's Office stated that the state will grant DA on par with the central government.

Eligible personnel in local bodies, state universities, technical educational institutions, aided educational institutions, and those on University Grants Commission (UGC) pay scales will also benefit. The government will disburse the difference in DA for the period between July 1, 2026, and October 31, 2026, as cash arrears to those eligible.

The central government's Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved a similar instalment of DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners on October 28. This central revision affects approximately 48.54 lakh employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners across the country.

The central government noted that the combined annual cost for the DA and DR increase is Rs 10,016.10 crore. The allowance is intended to help employees and pensioners manage the impact of inflation and rising prices on their living costs.
