Vigilance launches inspections in 16 Kerala welfare fund boards
The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau is investigating allegations of financial irregularities and corruption across 78 offices under the Department of Labour.
The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) launched inspections in 16 welfare fund boards on Thursday, November 5, 2026, following complaints of corruption and financial irregularities, according to The Hindu.
Vigilance director Manoj Abraham stated that the inspections, titled ‘Operation Welfare Fund,’ are progressing in 78 offices of the boards functioning under the State government’s Department of Labour.
The VACB received diverse complaints, including allegations that officials misappropriated employer contributions and took bribes to include ineligible individuals in beneficiary lists.
Other allegations involve tampering with account details to continue pension payments after beneficiaries die, paying multiple pensions to one person, and the diversion of government assistance.
These inspections are part of the ‘Pro-Active Vigilance’ initiative under the VACB’s ‘Project Zero,’ which aims for a corruption-free Kerala.
Manoj Abraham urged the public to report corrupt activities via the toll-free number 1064 or the mobile numbers 8592900900 and 9447789100.
