Software engineer earning Rs 1 lakh monthly considers moving to city
A remote worker living in a village is weighing relocation to Kota to access better recreational facilities.
A software engineer earning approximately Rs 1 lakh a month is considering moving to Kota to improve their lifestyle, according to a report by the Times of India. The professional, who has about one year of work experience, currently works in a fully remote role from a village.
The individual shared their experience in a Reddit post, noting that while living with family allows for significant savings due to lack of rent and low expenses, the village lacks amenities. The techie stated there are no cafes, gyms, cinemas, or food delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato available.
The user described a repetitive routine of working, scrolling on a phone, and sleeping, noting that weekends have become difficult to enjoy. They are considering relocating to Kota, which is approximately 80 km away, to access more social and recreational activities.
Moving to a city would introduce new costs such as rent, groceries, transport, and household bills, which could reduce monthly savings. The techie noted that since the job remains remote, much of the day would still be spent working indoors.
Reddit users responded to the post with various suggestions. Some encouraged the engineer to try living independently for the experience, while others suggested travelling to hill stations or beaches and staying in hostels with reliable Wi-Fi.
