Delhi woman chases phone snatchers for 500 metres to help police

Khushi Maheshwari pursued two suspects on her scooty after they allegedly snatched her iPhone 16 Pro near Shalimar Bagh Metro Station.

A 24-year-old woman, Khushi Maheshwari, chased two motorcycle-borne suspects for approximately 500 metres on her scooty after they allegedly snatched her iPhone 16 Pro on the night of October 28. The incident occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Shalimar Bagh Metro Station in Delhi around 8.30 pm, according to the Times of India.

Maheshwari was returning home from classes in Ashok Vihar when the two men on a motorcycle approached her from behind. Although she fell on the road during the sudden attack, she reportedly got up, raised an alarm, and pursued the suspects for about 10 minutes.

The pursuit ended near the Ring Road flyover towards Mukundpur after the suspects allegedly tried to push her scooty, causing both vehicles to fall. Local residents and police personnel intervened, leading to the apprehension of the two accused, identified as 19-year-old Sameer from Bhalswa Dairy and 19-year-old Mohit.

Police recovered the iPhone 16 Pro and three other mobile phones from the suspects. Two of the recovered phones were linked to theft cases at the Adarsh Nagar and Jahangirpuri police stations, and the motorcycle used by the accused was also found to be stolen.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Akanksha Yadav appreciated Maheshwari's courage and presented her with an appreciation letter for her role in helping catch the accused.
