Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi interacted with patients and praised their craftsmanship ahead of the Diwali festival.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited the Government Mental Hospital in Ahmedabad on Thursday to interact with patients, according to ThePrint.

During the visit, Sanghavi purchased handcrafted diyas, or earthen lamps, made by the patients in preparation for Diwali. He also lit the lamps alongside them.

In an official release, Sanghavi said the lamps were a symbol of the patients' happiness and self-reliance due to the love and hard work used to prepare them.

The programme was attended by Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel and MLA Ganpat Vasava. Other attendees included Nursing Council Vice-President Iqbal Kadiwala and Mental Hospital RMO Diptiben Bhatt.
