Mumbai man shows tiny rented room for family of five

A vlogger's video of a resident living in a cramped Mumbai room for Rs 6,000 a month has gone viral.

A resident named Monish lives with his wife and three children in a tiny rented room in Mumbai that costs Rs 6,000 a month, according to a Times of India report. The video, shared by travel and lifestyle vlogger Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi on Instagram, has crossed 5 crore views.

The single room serves as the kitchen, dining area, and sleeping space for the five family members. Monish explained to the vlogger that he cannot stretch his legs while sleeping because there is not enough floor space. He demonstrated that he must keep his legs folded or raise them to straighten them when they ache.

The family manages daily activities within the limited area. Monish said his wife wakes up early to collect water and wash utensils, during which time he moves to another corner to sleep. His son sleeps near the entrance so he can leave for school without disturbing the others.

The video also shows a narrow passage leading to the home where two people cannot walk side by side. The room accommodates the family's belongings, cooking arrangements, bathroom facilities, and a refrigerator.

The footage has drawn various reactions online, with some viewers comparing the living conditions to a prison and others noting the contrast between the city's opportunities and its housing difficulties.
