Odisha to host eco-retreats at eight locations this season

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has directed officials to focus on tourist safety, healthcare, and local employment for the upcoming retreats.

The Odisha government has decided to organise eco-retreats at eight destinations across the state this season, according to The New Indian Express.

The selected locations include Konark, Sonapur beach, Daringbadi, Talamali, Kolab, Hirakud, Satkosia, and Kusumbandh.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida chaired a review meeting on Thursday to assess preparations for the retreats and emphasised tourist safety and healthcare.

Parida instructed officials to install CCTV surveillance systems, provide adequate security, and ensure the availability of paramedics and basic healthcare facilities at the sites.

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed that local youth and communities must be given adequate employment opportunities and involved in tourism activities.

Parida said the retreats should go beyond providing accommodation to emerge as holistic tourism experiences that promote the state's natural beauty, cultural identity, and local livelihoods.
