Telangana Cabinet approves life insurance and sari distribution schemes

The state will provide Rs 5-lakh life insurance to every family and distribute saris to over one crore women.

The Telangana Cabinet has cleared a free life insurance scheme providing Rs 5-lakh coverage to every family in the state, according to Urban Acres.

Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Indiramma Family Life Insurance scheme and the distribution of Indiramma saris to more than one crore women will be launched in Siddipet on November 19.

The government has planned a household-level application drive from November 20 to 30, where Indiramma Committees will visit every village home to collect forms. Tahsildars and gram panchayat secretaries will receive these applications.

The two welfare programmes will be introduced alongside the ‘Maa Indiramma Intlo Deepavali’ initiative, where ministers and MLAs will celebrate Diwali with beneficiaries of the 2.25 lakh completed Indiramma houses.

Regarding administrative changes, the Cabinet approved the abolition of the combined Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission to create separate commissions for each community. Each new commission will consist of a chairman and five members.

The Cabinet also sanctioned 136 posts for various junior civil judge-cum-additional judicial first class magistrate courts across Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Siddipet, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Rajanna-Sircilla, and other districts.
