The 15-year-old batter will lead the state side for the opening two fixtures of the tournament in Indore.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been appointed captain of the Bihar senior team for the first two matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, according to The Hindu. The 15-year-old left-hander will lead the squad during the opening fixtures against Saurashtra on November 14 and Railways on November 16 in Indore.
Suraj Kashyap will serve as vice-captain, the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) announced on Friday. Bihar is placed in Group B alongside Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Railways, Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu.
Bihar assistant coach Ashok Kumar told Hindustan Times that Sooryavanshi is ready for the role and that the decision follows the injury of Sakibul Gani. BCA president Harsh Vardhan stated that the captaincy offers Sooryavanshi a chance to develop as a leader, noting his talent and maturity.
