Two bodies recovered from Tamil Nadu forest in Bengaluru murder case
Police identified the remains of Sunitha and Rupavathi in Salem after the accused, Indusekhar, pointed out the locations.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh confirmed that the bodies of Sunitha, 40, and her mother Rupavathi, 65, were recovered from the Yercaud forest area in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. The recovery follows the identification of the bodies by the accused, cab driver S Indusekhar, also known as Arjun Indusekhar.
According to The Indian Express, the total number of bodies recovered so far is three. The body of seven-year-old Puneeth, the nephew of the accused, was previously recovered near Nandi Hills. Police are continuing the search for the remaining four victims.
The investigation involves the alleged murder of seven members of the accused's wife's family between October 16 and November 1. Police suspect Indusekhar killed the victims after spiking their food and drinks with sleeping tablets. The accused allegedly used a Toyota Etios with a 'PRESS' sticker to transport the bodies and wrapped them in adhesive tape to mask the smell of decomposition.
Hindustan Times reported that investigators are also probing a financial motive, alleging that Indusekhar removed and sold gold ornaments from the victims. The case came to light after Tungamma, the mother of victim Nalini, reported her daughter and son-in-law Shankar missing on November 3.
The Salem police are conducting post-mortem examinations on Sunitha and Rupavathi. The bodies will be handed over to the family for last rites after the necessary formalities are completed.
