Two deer allegedly killed by suspected poachers in Rajasthan's Barmer

Villagers in the Dhanau police station area staged a sit-in protest demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the incident.

Two deer were allegedly killed by suspected poachers on Friday night near Nehron Ki Nadi and Bisarniya villages in Rajasthan's Barmer district, according to the Hindustan Times.

The incident occurred in the Dhanau police station area. Villagers alleged that the suspects used an iron container filled with stones to make sounds to attract the deer.

The suspects reportedly reached a cattle enclosure belonging to Kanwararam Choudhary while chasing a third deer. The noise disturbed the cattle, alerting villagers who raised an alarm, causing the suspects to flee in the dark.

Villagers claimed the poachers tied the legs of one deer carcass before hanging it upside down from a tree. Protesters have demanded the arrest of the accused and stronger wildlife protection measures.

The villagers also alleged that similar incidents had been reported previously but no effective action was taken. Officials have attempted to pacify the protesters.

A Forest Department team, Dhanau police personnel, and Chohtan Circle Officer Jetharam reached the spot to initiate an investigation.
