Delhi Police to provide financial aid to injured personnel
More than 250 officers will receive between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000 for injuries sustained during law and order duties this year.
The Delhi Police on Friday announced financial assistance for more than 250 personnel who were injured while performing law and order duties in 2026, according to reports by The Tribune and Moneycontrol.
Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar has approved the aid, which will be drawn from the Delhi Police Welfare Society Fund. Personnel who suffered grievous injuries will receive Rs 25,000, while those with other serious injuries will be given Rs 15,000.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Public Relations) Rajeev Ranjan said the assistance recognises the dedication and sacrifices of officers. He added that the welfare and well-being of injured personnel remain a priority for the force.
The injuries occurred during various security arrangements this year, including deployments for protests and other duties. District Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have the option to submit proposals for increased financial support in specific deserving cases.
In 2023, the force introduced the 'Ahat Veer Samman Patra' to honour officers wounded while managing riots, protests, or apprehending criminals. The police Welfare Unit continues to work on supporting injured staff and their families.
