The Mad Men star was named a Team Ocean Captain during a New York City Climate Week event.

Actor John Slattery, known for his role in Mad Men, has joined the Ocean Conservancy’s ‘Protect Where We Play’ initiative as a Team Ocean Captain, according to the Times of India.

The Emmy-nominated performer was announced as the first actor to participate in the campaign during an event at New York City Climate Week on September 24, 2025.

The initiative aims to use the influence of entertainers and athletes to motivate fans to support ocean conservation efforts.

Slattery joins a group of Team Ocean Captains that includes WNBA player Napheesa Collier, NFL player Kelvin Beachum, MLB player Brent Suter, Paralympian Ezra Frech, ballerina Katherine Barkman, and surfer John John Florence.

Slattery said the ocean has been a source of joy and peace for him and noted that the ocean connects everyone.

The event also featured a preview of Kuleana, a documentary produced by Georgia Scott and GroundTruth Productions that examines the ocean plastics crisis in Hawaii.
