Three bodies found at suspect's home after Krakow mass shooting

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the deceased at the suspect's residence were likely close family members.

A 25-year-old man suspected of a mass shooting in Krakow's Main Market Square was found to have three bodies inside his home, according to the Times of India. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Sunday that the deceased, consisting of two women and one man, were likely close members of the suspect's family.

The shooting in the tourist area of the Old Town left six people dead and 16 injured. The suspect, a Polish citizen, reportedly drove through the square and used an automatic weapon to fire at multiple locations. Police shot and wounded the man, who was then taken to a hospital for surgery.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński stated that the suspect held extreme ultranationalistic and radical views, noting an interest in far-right ideologies. Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described the incident as an act of terror against the people of Krakow.

Krakow police spokesperson Katarzyna Cisło said the attacker wore a bulletproof vest and military-style fatigues. She added that the suspect used a military-type long gun and that police found more weapons and ammunition in his vehicle.

Among the six dead were four women and two men, including one British citizen. Police commander Marek Boroń reported that five foreign nationals were wounded, while two police officers were also injured.

Mayor Łukasz Gibała has announced a period of official mourning in Krakow until Wednesday. Investigators are currently examining the suspect's background and the evidence recovered from his home to establish a motive.
