Defence Minister Israel Katz accused Tehran of attempting to renew efforts to obtain nuclear weapons and warned Hezbollah of severe consequences.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that the country's military mission against Iran remains incomplete. Speaking at a ceremony for troops who died in a 1956 attack on Egypt, Katz accused Tehran of trying to renew efforts to obtain nuclear weapons, according to reports by WION, Hindustan Times and The Hindu.
Katz stated that Iran's actions, alongside other efforts, place the State of Israel in real danger. While Iran has consistently denied seeking to acquire nuclear arms, Katz maintained that the mission is not yet finished.
The defence minister also issued a warning to the Lebanon-based group Hezbollah. He said the organisation would face extremely severe blows if it chooses to join Iran in an attack on Israel.
Katz confirmed that Israel will not withdraw from security zones in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. This follows Israel's occupation of part of Syria after the 2024 fall of Bashar al-Assad.
The remarks come as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly indicated that Israel could carry out fresh strikes against Iran. However, it remains unclear if he has the support of US President Donald Trump.
Reports from Channel 12 suggested that Netanyahu and the Mossad intelligence agency attempted an operation against Iran before the October 27 election, but the United States intervened to stop it.
