Myhal Family Foundation pledges C$10 million for Mississauga hospital projects
The donation will trigger a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge to support the Trillium Health Partners Built for Us campaign.
The Myhal Family Foundation has promised C$10 million to assist with hospital redevelopment in Mississauga, according to a Times of India report. This contribution will act as a matching challenge, where every public donation made over the coming months will be matched dollar for dollar.
The funds are intended for the Built for Us campaign, a C$1 billion fundraising initiative led by the Trillium Health Partners Foundation. The money will support construction projects including the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, and the redevelopment of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre.
Rayla Myhal, President and Director of the Myhal Family Foundation, and her husband George Myhal provided the gift to honour the memory of Rayla's father, Mehraj Din. The foundation noted that Din was a community member who received treatment at the hospital network and supported charitable work.
Rayla Myhal stated that the gift is intended to inspire others to contribute, noting that community cooperation can build things individuals cannot achieve alone. The matching campaign began on 29 October 2026.
Trillium Health Partners is described by officials as Canada's largest community-based hospital network, serving Mississauga, West Toronto, and surrounding areas. The redevelopment aims to replace older structures with modern facilities to accommodate population growth.
Caroline Riseboro, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trillium Health Partners Foundation, said the gift serves as a catalyst to inspire further support. Karli Farrow, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trillium Health Partners, added that such generosity helps build a stronger future for healthcare.
