UP medical colleges to implement three-level grievance redressal system
The Structured Communication and Feedback System aims to resolve student complaints quickly across 84 medical institutions in the state.
The directorate of medical education (DGME) in Uttar Pradesh has ordered all medical institutes in the state to adopt a new three-level grievance redressal mechanism. According to the Hindustan Times, the 'Structured Communication and Feedback System' must be implemented with immediate effect.
The system will be rolled out across 84 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. It follows a four-stage escalation process involving the student, the Student Welfare Nodal Officer, the college principal, and finally the DGME.
Director General of Medical Education (DGME) Neha Sharma said that medical students work under pressure and the department aims to receive information about troubles they face, resolve those issues, and take measures to prevent them in the future.
At the first level, the Student Welfare Nodal Officer will document the student's name, course, academic year, contact details, and the grievance description. A student grievance or voice box will be installed in academic or student areas on every campus.
The nodal officer will check the voice box every two days to collect submissions. If a problem is not settled at the first or second level, students can escalate the matter to the college principal or the DGME.
Sharma stated that records regarding the receipt, examination, action taken, and final resolution of every grievance will be maintained at every level of the process.
