Delhi Police ACP suspended after joining personnel protest

Assistant Commissioner of Police Manasvi Vashistha was suspended following a demonstration outside the police headquarters regarding officer transfers.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha has been suspended after joining a protest by police personnel outside the Delhi Police headquarters, according to reports by The Economic Times and Bhaskar English.

The protest, which involved around 150 personnel, took place on Monday morning. The demonstrators gathered to demand the revocation of transfer orders for ACP Vashistha and Station House Officer (SHO) Arun Kumar, seeking their reinstatement to previous postings.

The transfers of Vashistha and Arun Kumar occurred on October 28 following a dispute with lawyers. This dispute began on October 23 after an alleged assault on lawyer Lalit Bansal at Shahdara Police Station, where lawyers accused the two officers of misbehaving and threatening them.

During the Monday demonstration, New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma attempted to persuade Vashistha and the personnel to end the protest and enter the headquarters, but the group remained firm. The personnel later met with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to raise their concerns.

Police sources stated on Tuesday that the suspension of Vashistha was taken in connection with the incident. While the suspension has been reported, the Delhi Police has not yet released an official statement or the detailed reasons for the action.
