Delhi Police ACP Manasvi Vashishth suspended after leading personnel protest

The suspension follows a demonstration outside the police headquarters demanding the reinstatement of the officer and an SHO.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashishth has been suspended after leading a protest by police personnel outside the Delhi Police headquarters on Monday, according to reports from Bhaskar English and The Tribune.

The protest was held to demand the cancellation of transfer orders for Vashishth and Station House Officer (SHO) Arun Kumar, the SHO of Shahdara police station. While Bhaskar English reported around 150 personnel gathered, The Indian Express stated that approximately 100 personnel initially gathered at Gate No. 1 before the group grew to around 500 personnel attending a meeting with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and other senior officers.

The controversy began following a dispute on October 23 at the Shahdara police station involving lawyers. The Indian Express reported that an advocate allegedly sustained a serious head injury during a scuffle, while Bhaskar English noted lawyers accused Vashishth and Arun Kumar of misbehaving and threatening them.

Following the incident, Vashishth and Arun Kumar were transferred on October 28. Although lawyers called off their strike after the transfers, the move triggered discontent among police personnel. Protesters raised concerns regarding the treatment of policemen in courts and the need for a grievance redressal mechanism.

Police sources indicated the suspension is connected to the protest incident, though the official suspension order and detailed reasons have not been made public. No immediate official statement has been released by the Delhi Police regarding the suspension.
