US strikes Iran's Qeshm Island
The attack on the island in the Strait of Hormuz follows reports of several explosions in the region.
The United States struck Iran’s Qeshm Island on Monday, November 2, 2026, according to reports from The Hindu and the Wall Street Journal. The island is located on the Strait of Hormuz.
The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported that the attack was part of a series of limited strikes carried out by Washington in recent weeks. These strikes have reportedly been kept small in scale and secret to avoid signalling an intention to resume a major military campaign against Iran.
Iranian state media outlet IRNA reported several explosions on the island. Separately, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy claimed it captured a US MQM-170 Outlaw reconnaissance and decoy drone west of the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
The IRGC Navy stated its electronic warfare unit identified the drone and brought it down without physical destruction. The force claimed the drone was used to identify air defence systems along the Persian Gulf coast and over Qeshm Island.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that a deal with Tehran could happen and claimed Iran wants a settlement quickly. When asked by reporters if he was considering strikes after the Tuesday midterm elections, the President replied, "no."
Washington and Tehran have been at war since February 28. The US Central Command did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the reported strike.
