INDIA bloc allies distance themselves from Neha Bora's Brahmanvaad remark
Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders have rejected the controversial comments made by AISA president Neha Bora.
Allies of the INDIA bloc have distanced themselves from controversial remarks made by All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora regarding the 'Brahmanical system'. According to reports by Times of India, Samajwadi Party leader Rajeev Rai stated that making such sweeping generalisations about any religion, caste, or community is inappropriate and unacceptable.
Rai, who represents the Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, said that every religion has both good and bad people. He added that such rhetoric is what the BJP wants and cautioned against falling into that trap.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi also described the assertions as unfortunate. Chaturvedi, a former Rajya Sabha member, said that radical thinking from either the Left or the Right is harmful to the nation.
Chaturvedi noted that the undated video appeared to reflect a mindset that portrays temples and priests as unsafe for women. She expressed a desire to meet Bora to discuss why issues should not always be seen through the perspective of religion or caste.
The controversy follows a video where Bora criticised the 'Brahmanical system' while discussing women's safety and the Unnao and Kathua cases. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Bora of spreading 'Hindu hate' and linked her comments to the politics of Rahul Gandhi.
Bora has recently been involved in protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
