Delhi batter Ayush Doseja discusses converting starts into big scores

The southpaw scored 78 during the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Services at the Air Force Complex Ground.

Delhi batter Ayush Doseja expressed his desire to convert promising starts into substantial scores after scoring 78 against Services on Tuesday. The 24-year-old was dismissed down the leg side at the Air Force Complex Ground in Palam, according to a Times of India report.

Doseja, who scored 949 runs last season, has struggled to convert starts of 25, 30, and 40 runs into larger innings during the 2026-27 domestic season. He noted that his recent dismissals, including a run-out, have been unfortunate.

Speaking after Day 2 of the match, Doseja said he had decided to bat for a long time and avoid playing wrong shots. He added that while he was disappointed to miss a century, he would focus on the good innings instead of the dismissal.

The batter mentioned that he has received guidance from batting coaches Wasim Jaffer and Hrishikesh Kanitkar to focus on his own game and ignore outside noise. He also noted that facing Bengal's pace attack gave him confidence for other bowling attacks.

Delhi reached 299 for 6 at the close of play on Tuesday, following Services' 266 on the opening day. Doseja said the most relieving aspect was that the team secured three points.
