Police conducted an overnight operation following an assault on three Border Security Force personnel in the Sepahijala district.
Nine people have been arrested in connection with an alleged attack on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Ashabari area of Tripura's Sepahijala district, according to The Federal and ANI.
The incident occurred on Monday morning after BSF personnel detained a person suspected of involvement in smuggling activities. Following the detention, a group of villagers reportedly attacked three BSF personnel, attempted to snatch their firearms, and vandalised a government vehicle, as reported by ANI and Prabhat Khabar.
Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma said on Tuesday that the arrests were made during an overnight operation. He stated that the accused would be produced in court on Tuesday and assured that those currently absconding would also be brought to justice.
Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the assault on social media, describing the violence against security forces as unacceptable. He directed authorities to take swift and stringent action against those responsible.
The investigation is being personally monitored by the Director General of Police. The BSF Inspector General has also arrived in the area and held a meeting with police authorities regarding the matter.
