Nine arrested after attack on BSF personnel in Tripura

Police conducted an overnight operation in Ashabari following an assault on three security personnel on Monday morning.

Nine people have been arrested following an assault on three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Ashabari area of Tripura, according to ANI. The arrests were made during an overnight operation after a group of villagers allegedly attacked the personnel on Monday morning in the Boxanagar area.

Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma said the accused would be produced in court on Tuesday. He stated that the attack on those ensuring national security was shameful and that efforts are underway to arrest individuals who are currently absconding.

The incident, which occurred in the Sepahijala district, involved attackers who tried to take weapons from the injured officers and damaged a government vehicle. One person detained prior to the attack was suspected of being involved in smuggling activities.

Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the violence, describing it as unacceptable. He stated on social media that all those involved would face strict legal action in accordance with the law.

The Director General of Police is personally monitoring the investigation following directives from the Chief Minister and the Home Department. The BSF Inspector General has also arrived in the area to meet with police authorities regarding the matter.
