Anshul Kamboj shines in series opener against New Zealand

The Haryana seamer used relentless lengths and increased pace to take crucial wickets in Auckland.

Haryana bowler Anshul Kamboj delivered an incisive performance in the series opener against New Zealand in Auckland, according to the Times of India.

The 25-year-old right-arm seamer used sharp wobble seam and speeds near the 140 kmph mark to take wickets, including Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith in consecutive overs.

Kamboj's first spell of 0-12 in 5 overs helped reduce the New Zealand batting lineup before Axar Patel was introduced to give the seamers a break.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Kamboj said that preparing well provides confidence and ensures there are no surprises in a match.

He added that he has been doing the same things and does not pay attention to outside talk, noting he felt motivated to perform after the Manchester Test.

India captain Shubman Gill had previously backed the quick, stating that Kamboj is a player who will be in the mix and can bat at number 8.
