Mitchell Starc reclaims top spot in ICC Test bowling rankings
The Australian fast bowler overtook South Africa's Marco Jansen following a strong performance in the recent series.
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has returned to the number one position in the ICC Men's Test bowling rankings, according to reports from Sportstar and the Hindustan Times. Starc moved ahead of South African all-rounder Marco Jansen after a productive series against the hosts.
The 36-year-old pacer took 15 wickets during the three-match series, which South Africa won 2-1. In the final Test in Cape Town, Starc recorded nine wickets, including a first-innings figure of 6-72.
Jansen had previously reached the top of both the bowling and all-rounder rankings last week after his performance in the second Test. While he lost the top bowling spot, the Hindustan Times reported that Jansen reached a new career-high rating in the Test all-rounder category.
South African spinner Simon Harmer also saw significant movement in the rankings. After taking his first 10-wicket match haul in the third Test and being named Player of the Match, Harmer rose nine places to seventh in the Test bowling rankings.
Other South African players also made progress in the latest updates. Wiaan Mulder moved to third in the Test all-rounder rankings, while Ryan Rickelton climbed 25 spots to 23rd in the Test batter standings.
