One bad match won't affect my career, says Anshul Kamboj

The Haryana seamer earned Player of the Match honours after India's five-wicket win against New Zealand in Auckland.

Haryana seamer Anshul Kamboj said on Wednesday that a single poor performance does not determine a player's career after he helped India defeat New Zealand at Eden Park. Kamboj took 2-22 in 10 overs, including 46 dot balls, to help bowl New Zealand out for 185. According to Telangana Today, he was named Player of the Match following India's five-wicket victory via the DLS method.

The pacer had a difficult ODI debut against the West Indies in New Chandigarh, where he conceded 82 runs. Speaking at a post-match press conference, Kamboj said the experience provided motivation to improve. He stated that one bad match did not affect him much and that he remains focused on his cricket rather than what people say about him.

Kamboj, who replaced Prasidh Krishna in the side, dismissed New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith. He noted that the Eden Park wicket offered purchase if he bowled at a good length. He also said the small dimensions of the ground did not bother him as similar small grounds exist in India.

Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar also contributed to the bowling effort, taking four and three wickets respectively. Virat Kohli's 74 off 51 balls helped India reach the revised target of 143 in 32 overs. India currently holds a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, with the second game scheduled for Saturday in Wellington.
