Bengaluru man arrested for allegedly threatening actor Ayushmann Khurrana

The Mumbai Crime Branch apprehended 30-year-old IIT graduate Vaibhav Mishra for sending Instagram messages and demanding money from the actor.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested Vaibhav Mishra, a 30-year-old IIT graduate from Bengaluru, for allegedly sending threat messages to actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Instagram. According to The Times of India, Mishra also demanded money in the messages.

Police are currently interrogating Mishra to establish his motive and determine if the demand for money was an attempt at extortion. Investigators suspect the incident may have been a prank.

This arrest follows a separate incident where actor Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received an extortion threat for Rs 5 crore. In that case, the sender claimed to be Harry Boxer, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Mumbai Crime Branch found no match between the voice in the Kapoor threat and available samples of Boxer, leading to suspicions of impersonation. That investigation was handed to the Anti-Extortion Cell.

There is no confirmed link between the case involving Khurrana and the threat received by Kapoor.
