Billie Eilish donation helps plant 150 trees in Texas grove

A $20,000 donation linked to the singer's tour has resulted in an 85 per cent tree survival rate in Austin's Zilker Park.

A $20,000 donation linked to singer Billie Eilish has helped create a native woodland in Austin's Zilker Park, according to a report by the Times of India. The project, known as the Billie Eilish Grove, was planted in March 2026 and currently reports an 85 per cent tree survival rate.

The 6,000-square-foot grove sits in the recharge zone of the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer. The site was designed by the nonprofit Zilker 351 to filter polluted runoff from Azie Morton Boulevard before it reaches Barton Creek.

The funding came through Eilish's Changemaker Ticket Program, an initiative connected to the environmental nonprofit REVERB. REVERB facilitated the $20,000 gift, which helped bring the South Woodland Project to life during the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT tour.

More than 150 volunteers planted 150 native trees, including flowering dogwoods, Mexican plums, and Texas red oak, across two weekends in March 2026. Zilker 351 reported that 140 trees have become established.

Madeline Weir, REVERB’s director of impact, told Chron that Zilker Park was a natural fit due to its association with the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Eilish has performed at the festival in 2019 and 2021.

The nonprofit is seeking a formal dedication from the City of Austin. If successful, Zilker 351 plans to invite Eilish to visit the grove and plant a tree herself.
