Andhra Pradesh CM seeks Central aid after cyclones Arnab and Murasu

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has requested financial assistance from the Union government to address extensive crop and property damage.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has requested immediate financial help from the Centre to recover from the impact of cyclones Arnab and Murasu, according to The New Indian Express.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Naidu described the damage to property and crops, the difficulties faced by citizens, and the relief efforts conducted by the State government.

The Chief Minister noted that the situation grew more difficult because Cyclone Murasu hit the state before it had fully recovered from Cyclone Arnab.

Shah spoke with Naidu twice on Tuesday to discuss the relief operations and the scale of the damage caused by Cyclone Murasu.

Estimates suggest Cyclone Murasu caused Rs 343.95 crore in losses across eight departments, with agriculture representing nearly 94 per cent of that total.

The agricultural damage involves 50,473 hectares across 465 villages in seven districts, impacting 69,828 farmers. Paddy crops were affected over 45,900 hectares, with initial agricultural losses valued at Rs 324.22 crore. Naidu expressed gratitude to the Union Home Minister for sending a Central team to evaluate the damage.
