The funds will provide cash assistance and rice to families in Ganjam and Koraput districts following Cyclone Arnab.

The Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 107.7 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to assist families affected by Cyclone Arnab and subsequent floods, according to ThePrint.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that each affected family will receive Rs 2,500 in cash assistance and 50 kg of rice. The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has released the funds for Ganjam and Koraput districts.

Officials stated that 4,29,782 families in Ganjam and 1,051 families in Koraput are set to receive the aid. Ganjam has been allocated Rs 107.44 crore, while Koraput will receive Rs 26.27 lakh.

The sanctioned money has been handed over to the district collectors of both areas to ensure quick distribution to eligible families. Meanwhile, an eight-member central team has assessed cyclone damage in Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

A preliminary assessment by the Ganjam administration indicated that 498 schools were damaged during the floods. All schools and anganwadi centres in Ganjam will remain closed until November 7 for cleaning, disinfection, and restoration work.
